You know those little quotes on the back of the book from famous people? The quotes praising the book, the author, the creator of the printing press etc. Those quotes often help sell books. My last book had a quote from The Bloggess. I’m big shit.
But I’m not as popular as this dad. Doug Moe managed to get Amy Poehler, Michael Showalter, Rob Corddry and Bobby Moynihan to read his new parenting book — Man vs. Child: One Dad’s Guide to the Weirdness of Parenting — and say some kind words about the content.
“Doug Moe has written a delightful and helpful book that gives real advice about the Wild West world of raising children.” – Amy Poehler, actress, comedian, and New York Times bestselling author of Yes Please
The list of endorsements for Man Vs. Child is impressive, and slightly shocking, because I wasn’t even sure Bobby Moynihan could read.
Moe is a comedian and Upright Citizens Brigade member and also a father. He wrote Man vs. Child strickly for dads. “Where are the books for us?” he asks. “Moms have lots of funny parenting books to drink wine to. But most books for dads are either treat us like idiots or they’re full of useful, but boring information.”
I take offense to his statement since I’m the author of a parenting book filled with useful but boring information. I don’t disagree but I still take offense.
According to Moe “Man vs. Child is about the absurdity of being a dad today: from your blissful pre-baby days through when your kid is off at school, probably talking shit about you. It’s a companion to help you through the hard times, like when you need something to read on the toilet and your phone is dead.”
Man vs. Child is out now. Have it delivered to your house and brought to you in the bathroom.
